Whistler based endurance athlete  

Karsten Madsen is a 29 year-old professional cross-triathlete and endurance racer based in Whistler BC. His background and roots actually began in the more traditional triathlon & XC mountain bike racing before he progressed towards off-road triathlon and gravel racing.

Since going professional in 2014, Karsten has won 5 Xterra Major titles, 3 National Championships and placed 2nd overall in the 2019 Xterra World Tour. In 2018 after two failed attempts at Xterra World Championships in Maui, he had a breakthrough performance and placed 7th.

I now have my sights set on becoming Xterra World Champion.

Community Investment & Volunteering
I raised money for Worca (trail association here in Whistler. After all that, you can find me relaxing, enjoying a good mountain view with my dog and drinking coffee. 

I believe there is more to being a professional athlete than just racing and training. I commit time volunteering and giving back to the sport and the people that cheer and support me in it. I invested most of this time in getting youth active as they are the future of the sport. I enjoy teaching the sport of triathlon and getting youth excited about a potential life in sport. Talking to young aspiring athletes along with helping out at kids triathlons are some of the ways I connect with young athletes.
