Agency hired to help Canada’s most successful Olympic sport secure corporate partnerships
Ottawa, December 22, 2017 – Speed Skating Canada is excited to announce it has engaged sports marketing agency SportBrand Canada Inc. to expand and develop its corporate sponsorship platform. With over 20 years of experience in the sports marketing industry, SportBrand’s main goal will be to develop new long-term partnerships between Speed Skating Canada and Canadian companies looking to align with a global sport leader.
“We know that SportBrand has competence within Canada’s sport marketing landscape, but they also have a very solid understanding of our sport which is a rare combination of expertise,” said Speed Skating Canada’s Chief Executive Officer, Susan Auch.
Speed Skating Canada will be looking to add to its overall tally of 63 Olympic medals this month of February in PyeongChang, South Korea, and remain Canada’s most successful Olympic sport of all time, which also requires the need to generate more revenue through corporate partnerships to run a world-class program and compete with the top-funded countries in the world. SportBrand specializes in tailored sponsorship strategies and innovative activation ideas that increase the value of sports organizations and events. Speed Skating Canada’s marketing rights and benefits will focus on Canadian pride, Olympic success, global exposure, youth development and international events in the country.
“Sport sponsorship is a powerful way for companies to enhance their brand’s reputation and visibility, but it is getting more and more complex to do it right. We will take the time with potential partners to highlight how aligning with such a successful Canadian sport can support company objectives,” says Colin Young, SportBrand’s President. Having worked with National Sport Organizations, Olympic medalists, international events and top brands, SportBrand brings years of valuable experience to the table in this Olympic year, including that of former long track national Team member Philippe Riopel, who joined SportBrand two years ago.
